Ram grew up in a remote village and raised by a modest family west of Kathmandu. After his primary level education, he completed his ophthalmic assistant training and then joined Lumbini Eye Hospital as an ophthalmic assistant in 1984.

In 1988 he completed his Post-graduation Diploma in Health Education and 1999 master of Public Health with the support of Seva. Since 1998, he has worked as a full-time employee of Seva in the capacity of Public Health Specialist. He was promoted to Program Manager and currently working as Program Director Seva Nepal. Most of his work is based on the prevention of avoidable blindness and sight restoration at the rural community level. He salutes Seva and patients who are always a blessing of positive thoughts.

He loves reading books on spiritual and positive thinking and is inspired by Gandhi.  He also loves teaching and traveling and telling stories is one of his favorite talents.
